my cousin was installing my car audio i have 2 12′ and amp?

he states that i need a car kit b/c i have a 2004 toyota camry he says i need a fuse box or car kit what is this for? he states my Speakers will run down my battery

Car kits normally refer to kits to mount a headunit. if it’s already mounted, then you dont need one. My 1990 toyota camry didn’t need one, but I dont know if the 2004 is double-din, single-din or something else. He may be referring to an amplifier wiring kit, but if the amp is installed and working already, then you dont need one. A fuse under the hood is to protect the wire from grounding out and becoming an arc-welder (like the guy above stated) but it also protects the wire from burning away if too much current goes through, fuses will always come with amplifier kits, if you just got a bunch of wires, it wasn’t a full "kit". The fuse included in these kits is rated for the amperage the wire can take without burning. The fuses on everything else inside the car is to protect them from electrical damage (hence why the manual says DO NOT insert a fuse rated higher than the original)

And no, unless your amplifier’s remote wire is ghetto’d up to the 12v+ to turn it on, your amp will not run down the battery.a System can’t drain the battery if it is not on (thats why remote wires are on a switched 12v, meaning it only comes on when either the car or the stereo is on)
